Guardian Tales: WORLD 4

 



Desert of Madness is the 4th World of Season One and the 4th World of the main storyline of Guardian Tales. It was released on February 24th, 2020, and was released on July 28th, 2020 globally.

The Knight is attacked by fanatic Desert Elves known as the Desert Cultists while traveling through the Desert Kingdom, and is thrown into their labor camp. While there, The Knight's Champion Sword reacts to a former mercenary known as Marvin, who was imprisoned after trying to fight the Cultist's leader to rescue an orphaned girl named Laila. Working together, the Knight and Marvin must work together to free everyone from the Cultists.

4-1 Desert Entrance

At first a lot of strange people bother the Knight and start following the party.It turns out they follow a cult and want to arrest the Knight for heresy. The area of battle is fenced by a stone wall, before entering look under the cactus plants west of it to receive a Star Piece.

The Knight stands no chance against the cultists and they puts the Knight into jail. There the Knight meets Marvin the first time and the Champion Sword reacts to him. . Marvin asks if the Knight is ready to do anything to escape before he starts beating them up. This catches the attention of the guard who will open the cell door to stop the fight. Use the switches to open the cells to get a Mysterious Slate, a Star Piece and a quest about a prisoner, who wants to escape with the Knight.

Use the key to free the prisoner in the bottom left cell and access the switch. The switch light a fire that burns away the sign that was blocking another switch that gives access to a brazier. Carry it back to the right to light the two lanterns which will open up the path forward.

Before lighting the two lanterns in the next room, trade the banana you found in your cell with the prisoner. In return he will give his treasure, which turns out to be only a rock. Now light the two lanterns and wait for the other two to be lit. In the last room there are 4 more lanterns which opens the exit gate and gives access to Prison Key 1.

Continuing outside there is a lazy guy lying on a cliff on the left. Speak to him to gain a follower Lazy Prisoner on FaceBreak. Next area is filled with guards that have vision cones that need to be avoided. If seen, the area will have to be restarted from the beginning. Do not miss out the prisoner at the bottom of the middle part of this area. When helped, he will grant access to a Star Piece. Additionally a Mysterious Slate and 2 Purple Tires is at the very left bottom corner of this area. There are 2 more Purple Tires at the top middle part of the map.

Next is a where you will need the Prisoner Key 1 to gain access to. The room is full of prisoners and there is a bonfire at the middle of it. Marvin suggests the Knight a break for a little while as he tells his story. Following up there is another room with prisoners working and more guards. Directly ahead is another prisoner who is asking for help to escape. Moving right, there is a prisoner mot working by the stones. He will trade a rock against a shovel.

There is a key inside a cell which will need both of the conduits to be electrified for the cell to open. With the key, gain access to the left part of this area. Several guards start chucking bombs from a platform but dodge the bombs and ignore them, the purpose is to break the stones and use the bombs to clear the stones. On your way you will find the third Mysterious Slate and a Star Piece, before leaving via the jumping pad.

After the jump pad, Marvin points out to the exit which is behind a big group of guards. He reflects "if only you had 5 prisoners with you". At this point the party should have 4 prisoners. The last prisoner can be found to the right prisoner in a cell. Going past the cell, is the monument for Mysterious Slates that can be traded for the Enterpriser Dolf costume. On top the prisoner in that chamber will trade your shovel for a Desert Passport. At the very left part of this area and hand the Desert Passport to the guard. He will hand over his uniform which allows you to finally escape prison and collect the last Star Piece Star Piece. Pretending to be a guard escorting prisoners allows access through and out of the jail. Marvin points out that the Desert Elf Town is nearby.

4-2 Desert Elf Village

After entering Desert Elf Village, immediately head south to receive the Basketball Boy costume. Next, into the map, the player will meet the sheriff, who is looking for a fugitive, and gives you the task to find him.

Move forward through the cave and find out you are trapped at a small place with a switch; press it to get out, and while moving south, see two additional spots build that way. There will be a jump pad, which the player has to use by walking and running to access both the of two spots and lower the stones. After all three stones are down, the player is able to access the treasure chest in the upper part of the area and get the Rune Rock Claw.

Back on the main path you soon meet a guy with an orange hat, which fits exactly to the description of the sheriff, but in the moment you approach him, he runs away. Your chase gets interrupted by a story sequence, but directly afterwards, you find him hiding behind some boxes. You could decide to turn him in at the sheriff or let him free. For the latter you will need to fight the sheriff to complete the quest.

Moving on to the west, you meet The Fortune Teller....? who starts her quest with you. Leave her southwards and you get into a battle with a group of cultists. At the end you could not only collect a Star Piece, but a map to the Cultists' Secret Ritual too.

Back on the main path, maneuver past the guard and destroy the pots at the new screen. One of them is hiding a Star Piece. On your way forward, you meet the fortune teller again and she offers to perform an exorcism on you to remove the bad luck. Before you leave that area in the north, go south to collect some Purple Coins.

Next there is an area with platform with a jumping pad in the middle. First take the right side and you meet a little igloo architect who will follow you on SNS. Next use the jump pad to meet the little princess and get a Star Piece as a gift.

After you move further a group of enemies battle you. Defeat them and take the stairs at the top left where you need your hook to move on. The platform you reach holds another Star Piece.

Now you get to a huge area of quicksand with a group of people chanting in the middle. As you get closer you realize one of them is Knight Captain Eva, but she does not recognize you and runs away. Do not follow her for now, but press the switch at your north. It will lower a massive stone southwards, but it has a timer on it. So maneuver quickly through the quicksand area to get the Star Piece behind it.

Now, you can follow Eva and reach the end of the map.

4-3 Oasis

The next area has a massive block with bombs in its middle and exits to each side. First, go to the northern exit and clear it from the cultists - this will get handy later - but do not take it for now. Additionally, press the button under the cactus to lower the center stone.

Now aim at taking the left exit first. This one is blocked by cultists again, so take a bomb to get rid of them. At the next screen push the speed arrow in front of the jump pad to be fast enough and you will meet a "well-dressed" knight who will follow you on SNS. Walkthrough the cave behind him and you are back at the start, but behind the wall of massive stones. Use the bombs to blow them away and do the same with the stones at the very south to get the Flame Festival Bow. Now take the other cave to reach the Tent Area.

After an unavoidable battle, immediately leave the tent area at its south to get back to the junction via the path we cleared in beforehand. Now move to the right exit of the junction. You have a short fight with some enemies before you are able to access a quicksand path that ends at a hole in the ground. When entering the quicksand move straight right(!) through the wall and you access a secret area with a video record and the Ancient God Ring at its end. Return to the black hole and jump through it to get a star piece. You will be at a platform in the Tent Area again.

At first, immediately leave at the left and you meet a merchant with the Picky Merchant quest. He is thirsty and needs some water, which is easy to fulfill as a water seller is close. Just be aware the merchant only drinks natural mineral water! However, he is so picky about it, that you could massively increase the gold he is willing to pay for it by first refusing to give it to him. If you attempt to get him to go above 8000 he will refuse and the quest will finish.

Next, go to the main tent in the center of the Tent Area. You meet Marvin again who is torturing some cultists for information. While he is busy, loot the boxes at the top right to get a star piece.

You leave the tent again and find a cultist running away from you. Follow him, but do not miss out to stop at the health fountain, because next, you will find yourself in a fight against a monster (let's call it Sandy). One of the main attacks it to summon a ring of sandstorms around you. It is unavoidable, but always has an exit to it. So do not run to quickly, but watch out for the correct direction first. Additionally Sandy will hide in the sand from time to time, so take care when you use your special abilities.

After the battle the cultist is still out of reach on his platform. Therefore, move around to lure him into the banana peel and he will fall off. Now you could interrogate him together with Marvin to receive a key to the main gate in the north.

After you pass the gate a treasure chest is awaiting you. Open it to find a Heavenhold Worker which will from now on allow you to have an additional construction pending in Heavenhold.

Moving to the right you meet a Teatan girl who will follow you on SNS before she gets run over by a cultist. Take the jump pads to open the path to the right and you will meet a guy revealing The Source of the Oasis. Move on to a part with a lot of stones that need to be destroyed to get access to a switch which will open a path next to the oasis guy. Not only a star piece and purple coins are there, but the access to a cave, too.

Take the cave and you end up with Cecil on a platform. Next to her is the Volcano Punch.

4-4 Paradise Entrance

At start of Paradise Entrance, you meet a faithful traffic police officer who is trying to catch Lana for speeding and is asking for your help via SNS. While she is talking to you, Lana is crossing, though. Follow her for A Hot and Fiery Race! Make sure to use each line later on to collect the purple coins.

Back at the start go as far left as possible and you reach an area with two golden spyglasses. Use one of them to memorize the pattern of the blocks on the other side and re-build it at your end. A star piece is your reward.

Next, you reach an area which may immediately throw you out again, after you entered via the speed arrow. Move the big block so it stops you from moving and allows the entrance. Besides some purple coins you could find the Assassin's Dagger here.

On your way forward you find some desert passports lying on the ground. Might this be the one the mother at start talked about? And indeed you find the crying family right after. Return the passports (or not) to keep the quest line going.

You reach an area with a lot of quicksand interrupted by a patchwork of little safe spots. On several of them stairheads with braziers on it. Ignore the jump pad at first as it will catapult you out, but you want to first explore all secrets and get every purple coin in this area.

First, move directly north and exit there to meet Knight Captain Eva again. She will run away again, but leaves a map to the "Chosen One" Cult's Hideout.

Back at the patchwork area, pick up the fire pit at the entrance and move it to the next exit. You will not be fast enough when carrying it, so throw from platform to platform and then run through the quicksand. Once you reach the area in the west, use the fire pit to light the cacti in the upper part. You just need to move as close to them as possible and it will work out despite the barrier between you and them. After you pressed the switch you are able to move the big block at the bottom and finally reach the star piece.

The fire pit's job is not yet done. Take it with you again to light all braziers in the quicksand area and it will open a passage in the north-west. The treasure chest behind grants Paimon's Two-Handed Sword. Finally, your job in this area is done and you could use the jump pad to move on.

You land right behind the massive gates and get reunited with the dead body of the parents and the kids crying on it (Unless you chose not to give them the passports). Use your hook to exit at the north and you reach a platform with several power coils on it. The switch at the top lets the first stone explode and grants your access to a bomb. Use it, to destroy the other massive blocks, too. Do not worry about the barriers, as long as the bomb is close enough to the stones, it will destroy them. Finally, you could move the big block left which allows all power coils to get electricity. By this, you get access to the speed arrow which needs to be moved to the left where the gap in the fence is. Use the arrow to jump to another platform that offers a star piece. Drop down at the right and follow the narrow path. Do not take the jump pad at first, but move on to collect purple coins and another star piece, before you have to return anyhow.

After you moved on, you will get into another fight. At that junction take the southern path to meet the fortune teller again. As soon as you confront her with fraud she will bring you to a new area to prove her being real with a moving-pots game. Whatever pot you will choose it will not be correct, but once you destroy them with a bomb you will figure out why.

Next, you soon meet a guy who is quickly hiding inside a tent. When you try to follow him The Nomad Village Fugitive is revealed. The puzzle about moving blocks left to it does not only hold two purple coins, but has a hidden passage through the wall in the upper left. Behind is another star piece.

Last you meet Marvin while following his preferred hobby - torturing cultists. After a dialogue, you could "ride" on a cultist who is dragged behind his motorcycle by Marvin. Move up and down to collect all purple coins. Do not worry if you miss some, you could replay this part by returning to this spot after you have finished the level.

4-5 God of Destruction

After the second battle, move left and you reach an area with several tents and a fire pit - which turns out as handy as always. Use the fire pit to set the tents on fire and follow a secret path trough the wall behind on of them to get a star piece.

Take the fire pit with you on your way and you soon meet a row of guards securing a tent. Light the brazier which will result in a chain reaction setting the tent on fire. Before going that way, take the left exit and you find a group of cultists running in a circle.

Now take the exit "through" the tent. Behind it is a wooden sign that lets you know about the Road Maintenance Stage. After the following battle move further north and find a jump pad which will lead you on a path of platforms with several purple coins to collect and a star piece at the very end.

You are back at start, but there is more to the path you just went. So go there again and take the first two(!) jump pads and then leave that particular platform by jumping down the edge on its right. You reach a new area with a bomb tent and a star piece lying on the ground.

Last but not least go the the junction a third time , but now turn right after he exploded tent. You meet some people who start following you and directly after you reach an area with several speed arrows. Primarily destroy the little stones and collect the mysterious piece, before you return to press the red switch. Now hurry up to make it over the lowered gate at the right in time. Behind is the next star piece and the entrance to a cave which brings you back to start. Press the switch again and now exit at south.

Here you finally get rid of your little followers as you drop them with some others. At first grab the fire pit and take the right path around the lake, just to find a jump pad surrounded by braziers. Light all four to open a gate downwards which gives access to a star piece. Collect all purple coins around, but take the jump pad at the end. It will only transfers you back to the other side, but mid air you collect the last mysterious piece.

Now exit left to reach another area with some bomb tents. Use the fire pit again if you need some more money (who doesn't, right?) Additionally you find the statue for the mysterious pieces, which grants you the Barbarian Soldier costume. At the little area when taking the northern exit you may in first hand only find some pots and cacti, but a golden shimmer in it middle is a hint for more. Throw a bomb at that spot to get another star piece.

At last follow the quest marker to reach the place of final battle. For this you team up with Marvin and have to attack the uber-cultist with your motorbike. Just evade the attacks of the boss and ram the boss to break his vehicle. At the end Marvin puts him over the edge and joins your party.
