Guardian Tales: WORLD 3

Magic School is the 3rd World of Season One and the 3rd World of the main storyline of Guardian Tales. It was released on February 24th, 2020 on the Korean server, and was released on July 28th, 2020 globally.

Ghosts have taken over the Magic School. They are possessing innocent people and attacking students and teachers alike. The Knight works with the 2nd Champion, Sohee, in finding the source of the outbreak of ghosts in order to put an end to them.

3-1 Magic School 1st Floor

The player will start in a relatively empty room, with only a handful of students lurking about.

Timid Student will follow the player on SNS upon saving her. Talking to her after completing World 3 - Magic School will make her give the missing rewards to the player.

A small balcony on the right of the upper side is blocked by a massive Stone, with a switch lying just beyond. The bomb to destroy it is nestled in another enclave, blocked by a large gray block. In order to access it, the player must get rid of the pile of books and push the grey block to the right. The switch will open the room on the right.

After the player have completed the quest regarding the secret of Laura, the player can enter this chamber again. The player will meet a girl who is finally able to go to the restrooms again and rewards the player with some gold and items.

Do not worry about the other chambers being closed. The player will gain access to them later.

Leave the room via the the top left exit and go through the classroom entrance on the upper side of the hall. In the top left, top right and bottom left corners of the room the player will find switches, and must hold them down by sliding the grey blocks over them. In the Bottom Right there is a fourth button hidden under the chandelier. Ghosts will initially block this area, only disappearing when the player discovers and resolves the truth about Laura quest later on. It is then that the player can step onto the switch, which lights the torches in the centre and finally clears a path to the blocked center-area.

After talking with Sohee and receiving the Proton Spirit Generator, the player will be able to kill ghosts; thus allowing the player to talk to Invisible Student and he will tell them about the invisibility cloak, which gives access to the stage "The Invisibility Cloak".

Heading straight down from the Homeroom's entrance will bring the player to the Personnel Office. Besides some enemies to defeat, there is nothing of note to do and the player should leave through the exit on bottom left. (Although they are technically connected, this room is labelled as the Junior High Staff Office with a sign on the exit, and thus will be considered a separate, adjacent room for the sake of simplicity.) Here, the player will find a small maze that is blocked by ghosts that fade in and out, switching every two seconds. The player must maneuver their way through them by waiting in the gaps until they temporarily disappear. Be careful not to get caught!

Finally, before leaving the Personnel Office, the player can bomb the large boulder top-left of the maze to create a small shortcut that will become handy in the future.

The Book Archives are opposite of the exit of the Personnel Office. The trick in this room is to take one of the unlit braziers, light it on one of the central torches and hold / throw it to the stacks of books, setting them on fire and setting the bombs off. This will destroy the massive stone and render the treasure chest accessible.

Returning to the hallway and heading further left, the player will come across the second Junior High Staff Office on the bottom of the hall (which should be blocked), and have to fight the enemies to left of the sign. The player can come back later.

In this next room, it would be wise to restore the player's health with the magic tower, then return to the office and fight the enemies there. At the bottom, there is a shortcut to the storage room (break the shelf by running through it).

In the storage room are several enemies to be fought and Purple Books to be collected. Use the stairs next to the shortcut entrance to reach the stones and bombs at the bottom. Use the latter to bomb the player's way through to the collectibles.

Via the hallway, move (back south) to the canteen where enemies await, to get access to the warehouse. Here a little brain work is required to move the blocks.

  1. Start out at the left half and move the block at the bottom to its right.
  2. Then move the block right to the bomb up and directly afterward he blocks to the player's right further right.

The player shall now have access to the bomb to destroy the massive stone. Afterward, move up and left to move the block downwards so it touches the bomb and directly turn sight to move that block to the right. To be able to move it upwards, the player has to:

  1. First move the block below it into the little gap on the right.
  2. Then turn north to move the block up onto the switch. The shelf on the player's right will now move down.

There, the player just has to follow the path to then move the southern big block to its left and afterward he other one up to get access to the item.

Back in the hallway, move north and Lana the Lightning Counter will challenge the player for a race. The trick to beat her is to carefully watch the disappearing ghosts as to not bump into them. Afterward, a Star Piece is the reward. Still, there is a hidden path to explore behind the bookshelf in the top left of this room. Just run through it to find a shortcut to a formally hidden room at the start.

In this room, the player will find four burning torches. To the left will bring them back to the first room, and the forward passage is being blocked by two bookshelves. The trick in this room is to do nothing! Just position somewhere between the torches and wait. After a while ghosts will appear and extinguish the flames. After all four are extinguished, a small story sequence will start and a boy will gift the player Chaste Love Brooch for rescuing him. The player may as well destroy the book piles to find some letters to read (references to Harry Potter).

At last, the player will just have to go to the end of the hallway, fight the remaining few enemies and finish the level.

3-2 Magic School 2nd Floor

After the first battle against some ghosts, the player has towards the south a little room where Vampire Idol Cecil gives one of her concerts. By far more interesting is the column which is awaiting the player, when following the hallway to its left. With this column, the player can change the appearance of the hallway itself so that they could enter different areas of the map. The boy tells the player that they need to enter each classroom (A-C) to disable the security system. Additionally he will follow them on SNS. After selecting Classroom A, the player will be able to obtain the first Star Piece. The player should have collected 11 Purple Books by now.

the player gets introduced into the mechanics of the little white ghosts which are meant to scare the player if they are getting into their sight, which lets them run in the opposite direction until something blocks the player. Push the small block at the end onto the switch to disable the first part of the security system. Collect the 6 Purple Books and the Iron Shield treasure.

After the player changed the column to allow access to classroom B, follow the hallway again and it will now lead the player to this room. Just fight the group of ghosts and move the big block onto the switch to disable the second part of the security system. Do not forget to destroy the little shining stone as is hiding the second Star Piece. There are 6 Purple Books in this path.

While entering the player sees a ghost escaping into a wall through a bookshelf. The messy books are an indicator. This shelf is destroyable and the player could simply run through it as well. Using the mini map at the left top would help to not bump into invisible walls. It will lead the player to a secret passage in the wall which ends up at the switch for the security system. This will not only light the third brazier, but destroy the pile of books next to it.

Do not leave the room yet, but take a pile of books and light it at a brazier. Then throw it at the bomb in the lower right corner to light it and thus destroy the massive stone. the player can now access another secret passage behind the bookshelf which leads the player to the third Star Piece. There are 7 Purple Books in this path.

Back at the column the little boy will tell the player, that the security system is disabled now and the player could move on to the western hallway. To access Classroom D push the unlit brazier behind the sign that says "Classroom D", the spot which was previously blocked by a pile of books. Select the Classroom D in the column to change paths from the West Hallway.

At the battle the player have to make sure to not get into the straight line of the lasers as they do a lot of damage. Afterwards, the player reaches a room with four stones to be moved onto switch in all corners of the room. Make sure the two small stones get onto the top left and bottom right switches where only them fit and move the big ones on the respective others.

Once every switch is down, a new way to the player's east opens. At first, pass the room with the ghost riddle and exit north. Here the player have to fight some ghosts and destroy a massive block to get access to some Purple Books and the fourth Star Piece.

Now get back to solve the ghost riddle.

The ghosts will be named "A, B, C, D, E, F" and "G" in order to help understand the instructions. The ghost's names are based on their clockwise position, being "A" the one at top left, and "G" the one who is at the bottom.

  1. First, move the big block so that it blocks Ghost B and the wall.
  2. Next, move a little block so that it blocks Ghost A.
  3. Move the big block so that now it blocks the wall and Ghost C.
  4. Move the little block that was blocking Ghost A so that it blocks Ghost B.
  5. Move the big block so that it now blocks Ghost C, D and E, and also pushes the button.
  6. Move the little block that was not being used to block Ghost F.

Lastly, with a bit of ability, the player should run to evade Ghost G scaring them and running away.

3-3 Magic School Founder's Room

The Magic School Founder's Room stage is mainly about bringing the story forward. You first meet Elphaba, founder of the Magic School, which tells you she is protecting the pupil. Many ghosts appear and you need to defeat them, before Elphaba opens a passage to the east. There you meet first the Occult Girl which asks you to join her club. Agree to start the questline of Occult Girl and the Secret Chamber. Afterwards you could move to the exit as the remaining parts of this level will only be available later in the game.

3-4 Magic School 3rd Floor

The story part introduces you to the evil Shadow Beast which is hunting and killing people in the fourth floor. To escape it you have to run immediately down the hallway and through whatever obstacle in your way. Sadly Lavi is too slow and thus left behind. You will encounter the Shadow Beast in many rooms in this level and it gets announced by a bright red line on the ground. Make sure to always step out its way to not die immediately.

In the second room destroy particularly the stones at the lower right to reveal a star piece. Then exit at the left to get to a little running puzzle after a short battle. Passing through is simple by just pushing the switches in a row from left to right, but the third one lowers a fourth shelf and reveals a mysterious piece, which you surely want to have as well. Pushing the switches in the order left, middle, up and than moving on will do the trick to get the piece. Afterwards get back to the switches and use only the lower row to make it to the next room.

For the upcoming fight the enemies will hide behind a barrier, so that you have to destroy a massive stone first, before you could move the massive block to its left onto the switch - theoretically. Another option is to simply throw the bomb onto the switch and quickly pass through. Just be aware with this option there will be no turning back for the moment. After the fight collect the star piece and move on to the next big block which has to be moved upwards on to the switch. By this all braziers at the beginning turn on which not only keeps the Shadow Beast away, but opens the way further north from the start.

The only possible way will lead you to a little labyrinth. Grab the fire pit at the bottom right and go upwards to the corner closest to the bomb. It will ignite and destroy the massive stone, revealing the way to the second mysterious piece. Take the fire pit with you to light the braziers in the hallway to follow the corridor to its right.

In one of the rooms leaving north from the hallway you will find the place to put your mysterious pieces to get the Student Uniform. In the other an old witch is asking your help which starts the quest The Witch and the Potion. All ingredients are in the same room, making this quest super easy to fulfill, but as reward you get a secret receipt which is needed in 7-5 Lowest Floor of Dungeon.

Afterwards, follow the hallway to its end where you find a star piece and have to push a big block on to a switch to turn on the next set of lights which allows you to move on.

It is now time to fight the Shadow Beast. Primarily concentrate on lighting up all four braziers to be able to inflict damage to the beast. For the fight itself just take care you do not get into the red area through which the Shadow Beast is flying.

After the fight go to the top left corner of the room and you find a secret passage behind the book shelf. It will lead you to a hidden area where you find not only some purple coins and the remaining mysterious piece, but a star piece as well. The piece is in another hidden room, which you could access by pushing the sign aside and break through the book shelf behind it.

A part of the hidden room is blocked by ghosts asking for Laura. Once you have started the quest Occult Girl and the Secret Chamber 3 you could access this area and get a piece of Laura's diary. Shall it be your first time in this level, the part is not accessible so you could move to the exit.

3-5 Magic School 4th Floor

On the player's way north, chains of little fireballs are coming. They do not harm the player too much, but block them from moving. So pass the gaps in the right moment and use the switches in the chambers aside to set up blocks for the fire chains. Before moving to the right hallway, make sure to catch the star piece a little further north.

Next the player encounters a big stone head which tries to crush the player. Fighting does not help, but the player has to throw one of the bombs somewhere and stand next to it so the stone head is crushing onto it. Good timing is needed to make sure the bomb is exploding in the very moment the head is close to it. Alternatively, the player can stand next to a bomb right before the head begins its ascent, making it land on top of one of the bombs. After a few hits it will break. Before moving on south, do not forget to collect the purple coins and star piece in this room.

On the player's way south make sure to go to the little chamber on the right. The player not only finds the Strengthening Hammer lying on the ground, but in the book shelf there is a note revealing the location of a secret safe.

Next the player finds themselves getting to a room with some enemies to fight and a lot of small stones at its right. Crush the way through the stones to press the switch and get access to a large room with a lot of stairs and steps forming a kind of labyrinth.

At the beginning, the player finds a green button labeled for supply organization. The player can use it whenever they may have done something wrong and want to reset the room. The player has now completed the labyrinth room and can leave the area at the bottom right. Here again a secret pathway is hidden behind a bookshelf, but do not forget to collect the star piece in the bottom right corner before going through it. There, the player has to fight some enemies, and afterwards they can access another puzzle room via the transfer arrow.

On the center platform of this room the player has six braziers. By pressing the buttons around the platform always changes the status of the whole column or row of braziers. So whatever is on, gets turned off and vice-versa. There are two closed chambers with signs next to them telling the player how to turn the braziers to get access to them.

One chamber will reveal the Wood Fairy Ring, the other one hides a star piece and Otaku Student who follows the player on SNS under the condition that the player have more followers than him (10). If the player has more follower than him, he would also gift the player the "Ann and the Secret Chamber" book, used in the Lazy Fairy quest from World 1 - Kanterbury Forest.

The player can now make their way back to the main hallway and turn south the the LAB area. After a short reference to Harry Potter, where the player gets called "Muggles" (non-magical people), Sohee picks them up and asks to follow her to the exit. Shall it be the player's first time in this level, this is the only way to go. If the player already follow the quest Occult Girl and the Secret Chamber 3 they can use the southern way to the right and the Laura-Ghosts will be gone. A diary page could now be accessed.

3-6 Magic School 5th Floor

The Magic School 5th floor introduces you to the Hookshot tool as new mechanic to overcome gaps. You will find it in a huge treasure chest surrounded by a lot of possibilities to practice with your new hook. After you solved your first little hook puzzle, you could move north and will spot the little princess sitting around. Pick her up and hold her for a while to get a star piece.

Moving east from where you spotted the princess will only be of interest if you are already working on the quest Occult Girl and the Secret Chamber 3. After you have defeated the enemies in that room you could break through a book shelf in the top right of the room, but it will be blocked by Laura-Ghosts if you do not have the quest yet. Still some purple coins need to be collected.

Moving west of the princess you get to a room with a lot of little white scary ghosts in it. In its bottom right corner is a chamber with some purple coins and the statue to bring your mysterious pieces once you have found them. The chamber at top right holds a fire pit which you need at the other end of the room and a reset button shall you need to reset the room to its original state.

Grab the fire pit and move to the left side of the room. This will happen nearly automatically as the ghosts scare you this way anyhow. Use the fire pit for the two braziers to get access to a small chamber with a switch. It will open the exit to this area.

Do not go to the exit yet, but move back to the the way the ghosts scared you along. As long as you do not touch the carpet the ghosts looking at you shall be far enough away. Now turn right and you shall have one ghost facing you. Throw the fire pit directly in front of it to block its sight. Now you could move in its direction and pass it to get access to the fenced area. Talk to the mirror to get aware of the secret level The World in the Mirror. Now you could go to the exit of this area, just take care you do not get scared by the ghosts on top to be able to go left and collect the star piece. Afterwards you purposely have to get scared by those ghosts to run past the ones blocking the exit. The purple coins could be easily collected when entering the area back again from the exit. The ghosts there will automatically scare you that way.

Next you reach an area with lots of platforms which you could only reach by using your hook. Again the fire pit is your best friend, so get back to get it from the last room in case you want to find all secrets of this stage. Go to the first platform and throw the fire pit to the one at your left. Follow it by using your hook and carry the fire pit further left. You will reach a room with a shimmering ghost painting (Is it you, Kirby?). After you set it on fire a secret passage is opened. You could find a video tape and a treasure chest with random weapons.

Back in the hook area, do not use the speed arrow, but your hook to get to a platform to your right. By using the jumping pad on the following platform you receive a mysterious piece. Next reach a platform with a switch which lowers a book shelf. Move on via the jumping pad and now you could move south over the lowered shelf. Do not use the speed arrows for now, but go onto the next platform. It seems there is nothing, but you could use your hook to get further downwards onto a little platform with a star piece.

Jump down the platform and destroy the small stones with a mysterious piece behind them. You could now use the bomb to destroy the massive block which blocks the stairs to the final jump pad. Before you take the pad, make sure you have searched the area between the platforms for all purple coins. Additionally you meet two pupil in the lower right corner which will reveal the secret level of The Extremist Wizards.

You could not miss the last star piece down the hallway and a health fountain is awaiting you, before you enter the boss room. At first Professor Flamel will turn on you and try to defeat you, but you quickly fight her down. Afterwards you follow a story line which brings you back to the first and second floor again before the true origin of all evil is uncloaked - all along it was Elphana!

The fight against here is not too complicated. She has barely any chance to attack you on short range, so it is safe to attack her directly with full force. From time to time she is switching location to another picture, though, so make sure you do not hit an empty frame. Unfortunately great battles come not without sacrifice - Lavi and Favi get turned into stone. You could meet their statues from now on in Magic School Founder's Room and maybe much later in the game you may even be able to rescue them.
